Treatment Options

There have been more advancements in orthodontic technologies in the past 20 years than in the entire history of orthodontics prior to the mid 1990’s. That’s really good news, because most of the advancements have made treatment more comfortable, more esthetic and even invisible. As a result, people of all ages can now choose from metal braces to clear braces, hidden braces or no braces at all with the Clear Aligners System. And Bill Redmond Orthodontics offers all the options.

When you’re ready to explore all the options available for improving your smile, Bill Redmond Orthodontics is a great place to start. You can research some of the available options below, and you can find out even more by scheduling a complimentary initial consultation with Dr. Redmond.

The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that you have your kids evaluated for orthodontics around age 7. Dr. Redmond only recommends early treatment for about 6% of the children he evaluates.

In those cases, early, interceptive treatment can help your child avoid more invasive treatment at a later age. For the other 94% for whom treatment is not recommended, Dr. Redmond will see them every year until they have most of their adult teeth to monitor their growth and keep you informed of any needs as they appear. There is no charge for these “growth and guidance” appointments.

Between the ages of 11 and 15 is the most common time for orthodontic treatment, and for good reasons. By 12, most, if not all, of the permanent teeth are in place, and crooked teeth, gaps and bad bites are highly visible.

We can often take advantage of the remaining growth to make the necessary orthodontic corrections to create an exceptional smile for your child. With few exceptions, appointments for adolescents are fast and the interval between appointments is about every 6 weeks through most of their treatment, so your kids won’t miss much school.

It’s also important to remember that orthodontic treatment isn’t just about the way the teeth look and only a qualified orthodontist, like Dr. Redmond, can really let you know if there are issues that need to be addressed.

Options For Teens & Adults

Whether you choose metal or clear braces, hidden braces or clear aligners, at Bill Redmond Orthodontics you’ll have the benefit of personalized care. Like fingerprints, your smile is unique – and so is our approach to treatment. We combine digital orthodontic treatment planning to tailor treatment to your specific dental anatomy. It all starts with a digital model of your teeth and Dr. Redmond’s treatment prescription. The process is simple. First, we scan of your teeth. Then, imaging software translates that into a 3-D representation of your bite. Dr. Redmond plans your treatment. You get your new smile!

Hidden (lingual) braces are bonded to the inside of your teeth where they can do their work without being visible. They take some getting used to, but are a popular alternative to conventional braces for anyone not interested in showing off their braces. For most patients, clear braces or clear aligners provide the esthetic look they want during treatment and the smile they’ve always wanted when treatment is complete.

But for some, the hidden approach offered by lingual braces is just what the doctor ordered. Be sure to ask us about this great option at your complimentary initial exam.

Clear Aligners

The Clear Aligners System straightens your teeth without wires and brackets, using a series of clear, customized, removable aligners. It’s virtually invisible, which means you can straighten your teeth without announcing it to the world. Invisalign moves your teeth in small steps to the desired final position. Each of your aligners are precisely customized to fit your mouth at each stage of the treatment plan.

You switch to a new set of aligners every couple of weeks and only remove them to eat, brush and floss. Before you know it you’ll be smiling like you never have before! At your complimentary consultation you can find out if Invisalign is a good option for you. It’s one of a number of virtually undetectable options we offer and is available for both teens and adults. And Dr. Redmond is a preferred provider of Clear Aligners.

Accelerated Treatment

One of the most exciting developments in orthodontics in years is our ability to get you to your new smile faster than ever before. In fact, all of our treatment options get results in less time, but we’re pleased to add two new technologies designed to speed up your treatment. Both options work regardless of the type of treatment you choose.

InBrace is a personalized behind-the-teeth, teeth straightener that is completely hidden.

The InBrace Smartwire works like an autopilot. Using Gentleforce technology, the Smartwire uses shape memory alloy to gently move teeth into position.

As a result, monthly tightening’s and tray changes are no longer necessary. The treatment continues to work while you eat, drink, brush, and floss normally.

With Propel, a quick in-office procedure jump-starts tooth movement and can be used on one or two stubborn teeth or to speed up treatment for your entire smile. Ask us how it works when you schedule your complimentary, initial consultation.
